Abstract

The utilization of agricultural waste is a form of optimizing the utilization of local resources in minimizing the environmental damage. One form of utilization of agricultural waste is to use it into organic fertilizer in order to increase the soil productivity. The purpose of this study was to obtain the effective decomposers in improving the quality of organic fertilizer of some agricultural waste. The experiment was conducted at Rumah Kompos Kebun Percobaan BPTP West Kalimantan Province. The experiment was conducted from August 2014 until October 2014. The experimental design used in the form of Complete Random Design (RAL) with factorial pattern. The first factor is the type of agricultural waste consisting of three levels ie: L1 = rice straw, L2 = Coconut Fiber, L3 = Empty Bunch of the palm oil. The second factor is a type of decomposer comprising four levels, namely: D1 = Decomposers EM4, D2 = Decomposers Trichoderma sp, D3 = Decomposers Local Micro-Organisms (MOL) and D4 = Decomposers Trichoderma sp + MOL. Each treatment combination was repeated twice so there are 24 units trial. The parameters observed were: (1) the temperature of the compost (2) pH compost, (3) the color of the compost (4) humidity (5) the nutrient content of the compost include: C, N, P, K, Ca, Mg. From the research is known:(1) The nutrient content of rice straw compost material is higher than the coconut fiber material and empty bunch of the palm oil (2) The compost derived from rice straw change faster physically and chemically (3) a mixture of Trichoderma and MOL Decomposers change faster in physical and chemical of the compost material (4) rice straw compost with decomposers Trichoderma and MOL generate C / N lower and produce more high nutrients (N, P, K, Ca and Mg) compared to the other materials and decomposers.
