PENGELOLAAN LAHAN SULFAT MASAM UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN PERTANIAN

Abstract
Acid sulfate soil for the development of agriculture, especially food crops, will be increasingly important and strategic if it associated with the growth in population and industry and as the decrease of fertile soil for a variety of non-agricultural use. By managing it properly through the application of appropriate technology, land that is considered marginal acid sulfate can be converted into productive farmland. However, because the land is fragile, especially with the various physico-chemical soil issues, the development of agriculture in a region needs to be done carefully and cautiously by selecting the appropriate technology with the characteristics of the territory.
Acid sulphate soil is one of the marginal lands (land issue) that have the potential to be developed into productive land with adequate technology input. This land is located on tidal plains with relatively flat topography and water availability that has made the land suitable for agricultural activities.
