Abstract

ABSTRACT

The most commonly encountered earthquake-resistant steel structure design in Indonesia utilizes bracing. Several commonly used earthquake-resistant steel structural systems include the Concentric Braced Frame (CBF) system. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in the position of inverted-V CBF bracing on the structural behavior of a 6-story steel frame office building in Pontianak City. The research method involved structural modeling using ETABS 22.1 software, considering parameters such as dead load, live load, and seismic load according to SNI 1726:2019 and SNI 1727:2020. The results show that the installation of bracing significantly reduces the structure's natural period, displacement, and drift. The structural irregularity analysis indicated that all variations met the SNI 1726:2019 criteria for both horizontal and vertical irregularity. Furthermore, modal mass participation reached 100% at the 21st mode, fulfilling the requirements for dynamic analysis. The structural analysis results, particularly of the one-story bracing configuration, demonstrate its effectiveness in improving the building's seismic performance by reducing displacement and natural period. Variation 2A was assessed as the most optimal, as it provided a good structural response without requiring an excessive number of bracings. These findings can serve as a reference in the planning of earthquake-resistant structures for high-rise buildings.
